Sorry for writing much lately, getting through last year was kinda crazy but thankfully it is over. Right now we are house-sitting for some friends in one of the other congregations and really enjoying it. Below is our little neighbor Josh found stuck in a cinder block.

This past week had our c.o. visit which was very encouraging and so nice to see the Hendrix again. They came to Guam just before i had left. they visited only a few congregations before they were sent out to the outer islands to serve, which they have just came back from 2 years later, they now will serve here on Guam and also I believe Saipan, Rota and Tinian.
Field service groups were overflowing and the meetings too. The talks that were given really hit home and were just what we need. Some of the points and experiences i appreciated were:

  • Matthew 11:29 -"Lowly in heart", that means that Jesus felt that he was lower then those around him. When he was teaching he was also listening to those around him and learn how they felt. Do we listen and learn from those we are trying to teach?
  • Job 9:6-9;12:7,8 - Job's bible was what he saw around him. he had no doubt heard about the words of Jehovah that had been passed down but how else did he build his faith so strong in Jehovah.
  • Acts 17:25 - When was the last time Jehovah gave you a bill for the air you breath or the life you have lived? these are the most valuable things we have, what Jehovah has given us.
  • Acts 20:35-The recipe for happiness. Jehovah is the happiest because he gives the most, do we try to follow in his footsteps? An example of this is of a sister on the island of Chuuk. She walks 8 miles one way through a thick jungle with a heavy baby to get to the meetings 9it takes her about 3 hours). But when she gets to the kingdom hall she is one of the happiest people there-why? Because she gave the most to get to that meeting.
  • An experience - One family in the Marshell islands during family worship, the parents asked there two little girls who in their congregation they would like to help. The little girls thought and replied that they wanted to help to of the older ones. So the parents asked how they wanted to help them.the reply was that they wanted to take what meager money they had saved from their allowance and buy something for them. So the parents took them to the store to pick the items out and brought them to the older folks homes. When the girls gave their gifts, the parents told them "this happiness you are feeling that is how Jehovah feels everyday".   how are we teaching our children about Jehovah being a happy God?
  • 2 Peter 3:8 - We need to have Jehovah's perspective on time (80 years in our life is but 2 hours in his time) during this time of the end. One sister that had been pioneering for 66 years said that she always viewed Armageddon as being the day after tomorrow so that helped her keep focused and not feel like when is it coming.
  • James 4:8 -This talks about purifying your hearts so you do not become indecisive. Here in micronesia this seems to be a real problem, we have ones that will study and come to meetings for years but never make real progress and this is the reason why. How they need to repent and purify their hearts is brought out in this illustration:
              Vs.

When in the world your heart is like the glass of dirty water on left. The glass of clean water on right is the pure waters of truth that we get at meetings and through our study of the bible. if we do not repent and clean purify our hearts all we are doing is pouring that clean water into an already dirty glass of gross water and contaminating it. If we can clean out our hearts then we can we be pouring clean water into a clean glass.

I am very interested If anyone has had their c.o.'s visit since September if any of this was familiar or similar, please share.

Also our mailbox was up and for now we are going to get our mail at Josh'a parents box since Josh still has a key and we don't get any mail:) So if you happen to send anything to us please mail it to the following address:  P.O. BOX 9412  Dededo, Guam 96912
